I have an HP Elite 8300 desktop computer with Windows 8.0 installed on it. I have tried upgrading to 8.1, but the upgrade program says I need to uninstall the HP ProtectTools Security Manager. I'm used Probook 6560B and install windows 8.1 pro x64, i want to install hp protect tool for fingerprint but Software don't appear in download list (I saw figerprint driver only) You should be able to use the W8.1 HP ProtectTools Security Manager software from the 6570b. This issue might occur if the HP ProtectTools Security Manager is not removed completely.
Have you enabled a drive encryption for a drive on the computer (for the drive in which HP tool is installed)?
If there is any encryption enabled for the drive, disable it temporarily and check if tool is still getting recognized after uninstalling it. You will need to disable the encryption and then uninstall the software.

Method 1:
Disable the service for the tool and then check if are able to upgrade to Windows 8.1. Follow the steps to do so:
- Press Windows+R keys and type “services.msc”.
- Locate the “hpqwmiex” service.
- Right click on hpqwmiex and select 'Properties”.
- The 'hpqwmiex Properties' window opens to the 'General' tab.
- Click the 'Stop' button to halt the service.
- Once the process stops, click the 'Startup type' drop list button (little down arrow) and select 'Disabled'.
- Click the 'OK' button. Close the services window.
Check if the issue still persists. If yes, proceed to the next method.
Method 2:
